There are currently 11 dedicated (deceptively named) Immigration Removal Centres in the UK. ? regular prisons are also used the detain migrants as well as a network of mini detention centres .... There are plans to build a new centre in Oxfordshire which would be the largest of its kind in Europe.
Most dedicated detention centres are run as class ? prisons. There are some differences.
Migrants are also held in regular prisons. People can also be held in Police Stations and reporting centres.
